WHAT IS INTERNET EXPLORER MODE?

Microsoft are stopping support for Internet Explorer. Their new product is call Edge. It’s faster, more secure and has more modern features than Internet Explorer. Effectively, Internet Explorer is being turned off as of June 2022.

There is a problem that some old web portals and websites are unable to run on Edge and need the older technology built in Internet Explorer to work. Fortunately, Microsoft have got a fix for this. It’s called Internet Explorer Mode and is a feature in Edge. Please watch the video below to find out how to turn it on.

HOW TO TURN ON INTERNET EXPLORER MODE

Steps:

1. Open Microsoft Edge
2. Click the ‘Settings and More’ (ellipsis) button on the top-right corner.
3. Select the Settings option.
4. Click on Default browser on the left-hand menu.
5. Under the “Internet Explorer compatibility” section,
6. Click the drop-down menu for ‘Let Internet Explorer Open Sites in Microsoft Edge’ and select ‘Incompatible sites only (recommended).
7. Next, click the drop-down menu for ‘Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode’ and select ‘Allow’.
8. A new option will appear asking you to ‘restart’. Click ‘Restart’
9. When Edge has re-opened, go back to Settings.
10. Click on Appearance on the left-hand section.
11. Under ‘Customise Toolbar’ there is a slider to turn on ‘Internet Explorer mode button’
12. The button to automatically turn on IE Mode will appear on the top right of Edge.
