We’ve come across an issue where Outlook regularly asks for a password when the program is opened. Once the password is entered Outlook runs fine. But it requires the password almost every time the program is opened. You can fix this with the following steps:

  1. Log onto computer as user with issue
  2. Make sure Outlook is fully closed
  3. Change Registry:
    1. Navigate to: ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftOffice16.0CommonIdentity
    2. Create a new DWORD named EnableADAL and give it a value 1
    3. Create a new DWORD named DisableAADWAM and give it a value 1
    4. Create a new DWORD named DisableADALatopWAMOverride and give it a value 1
  4. Close all programs and sign out of computer/restart
  5. Log back in as user with issue
  6. Open Outlook and test that it works

Remember that if you are on a Terminal Server farm that you check the registry is changed on each server that the user logs into.
