How to change your stored password on the MSTSC Remote Desktop icon.

Many people store the password used to connect to a remote server in the connect icon on their desktop. It saves lots of time every day, however when the password is changed the shortcut needs editing. This is a simple 3 stage process that any user can do.

Step 1 – Open the Editor

Click onto the Windows icon on your desktop and start typing MSTSC.
A shortcut for Remote Desktop Connection will display, click on this!.

Step 2 – select your desktop icon

When the box in the picture appears, click “Show Options”.
Now select Open, and browse to the icon on your desktop.
Click OK.

Step 3 – Store your new password

Click the small blue writing to edit the stored credentials.
Enter your new password and click OK
Click Save and then click the cross to exit the edit window.
